Glenda Bacon

March 16, 1943 — September 24, 2021

Glenda Bacon, age 78 of Germantown passed away peacefully on September 24, 2021. She was born March 16, 1943 to the late Archie and Kathryn (Kennard) Nickell. Glenda enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making her famous peanut brittle. In her lifetime she had made 9 thousand pounds of peanut brittle and shared it throughout 22 countries. She made some for George Jones and while at the museum with her niece Erin, they were telling the cashier about the peanut brittle and even the cashier had remembered tasting some that George had taken around and shared. The same thing happened when her late husband Bill was purchasing a new truck, he offered the salesman to purchase some peanut brittle and the salesman happened to have some that his wife had bought and it turned out to be Glenda's and he said it was the best they ever had. Along with her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Walter (Bill) Bacon who took care of Glenda throughout her life, he was so kind to take her a bushel basket full of yarn in rehab when she only asked for a little. She was also preceded in death by her brother in law Larry Shotwell, great nephew Colt Lewis who was only here for a year and left a huge hole in everyone's hearts and his grandpa would have spoiled him to the moon and back. Glenda is survived by her brother Kenneth (Linda) Nickell, sister Janet Jennings, nieces and nephews Beth Nickell (Gary Propes), Kelly (Bri) Nickell, Matt Jennings (Karen Riley), Erin (Chris) Swank, Gary Bacon, Suzee Bacon, great nieces and nephews Wyatt, Madison, Wriley and Marissa Jennings, Jay, CC, Kyle, Kade and Karli Bacon, Braden and Avery Swank, as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 11:00am at the Arpp, Root & Carter Funeral Home, 29 N Main St., burial immediately following at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10am.
