Virginia D. Gilley, a beloved homemaker, peacefully passed away on August 5, 2023, at her home in Franklin, OH surrounded by her family. Born on December 14, 1937, in Helechawa, KY, Virginia led a life filled with love, joy, and devotion to her family. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Virginia exemplified the true meaning of being family-oriented. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and always found ways to bring joy into their lives. Virginia had a fun-loving spirit that was infectious and she created countless unforgettable memories during family camping trips and vacations, and was known for her creative abilities.
Virginia's educational journey included attending Middletown High School and later earning a Real Estate License from Miami University. These achievements reflected her determination and commitment to personal growth.
Virginia is survived by her children Debra Caron (and son-in-law Mike), Marsha Calvert, Jim Gilley (and daughter-in-law Clarissa), her sister Janet (Don) Riegel numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, James Gilley, her parents Everett Prater and Elsie Dykes Prater, her sister Elizabeth Burns and brothers James, William, and Edward Prater, and son-in-law Steve Calvert.
A private burial service will be held at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum in Middletown, OH.
