Thomas "Tom" E. Hendricks, a devoted family man, respected veteran, and skilled tradesman, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on May 2, 2026, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on April 7, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, Tom's life was marked by dedication, hard work, and heartfelt devotion to those he loved.
A proud veteran, Tom faithfully served the United States Navy for six years, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career spanning more than three decades with A.B. Dick as a service representative. His expertise and passion continued as he established his own business, Tom's Service, where he specialized in the repair of printing presses throughout Ohio and Indiana, earning well-deserved respect for his craftsmanship and reliability.
Tom found joy and fulfillment beyond his professional life through his hobbies and interests. He was an avid woodworker who created beautiful furniture with his own hands, a testament to his patience and skill. His affection for Disney animation brought a lighthearted joy to his days, while the serenity of fishing at Lake Erie and boating were among his favorite pastimes. He treasured his time at his home in Florida, a place where he could relax and savor the company of family and nature.
Above all, Tom’s greatest pride was his family. He treated his wife, Paula (Boyd) Hendricks, as if she were a princess, cherishing their life together and the special moments they shared. His grandchildren, Evan Larson and Hayden Larson, carry treasured memories of the patient and loving grandpa who taught them how to ride a bike. Tom’s brother, Terry Hendricks, remains a close living relative who shares the sorrow of this profound loss. He is also survived by his daughters, Tina (Mike) Taylor and Karen (Michael) Rezabek.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Norman L. and Margaret Hendricks, and his brother, Lawrence Hendricks. Their memory lives on, intertwined with the legacy of a man who touched many lives with his kindness and strength.
The family will gather to honor Tom’s memory with a visitation on May 13, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Arpp, Root, Carter Funeral Home, located at 29 N. Main Street, Germantown, Ohio. The funeral service will take place the following day, May 14, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the same location, where friends and loved ones will be welcomed to pay their respects and celebrate a life well-lived. Burial with military honors immediately following at Twin Valley Cemetery, Enterprise Rd. West Alexandria, Oh.
Tom will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments and hobbies but most importantly for the love and devotion he showed to his family and friends. His legacy endures in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will remain a cherished presence in their lives.
