Susanne Russell

With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Susanne Focht Russell, age 79, of Farmersville and Germantown, Ohio, lovingly known to many as “Sasha.”

Susanne was a 1965 graduate of Farmersville High School and a 1967 graduate of Elkhart University of Medical and Dental Technique which led her to work in the dental field for 40 years.

Susanne was a woman of unwavering faith, quiet kindness, and a gentle spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She loved her family beyond measure and had a remarkable way of making those around her feel special.

Susanne knew how to enjoy all the little things that made life wonderful. Whether she was listening to Elvis, cheering on her favorite golfers and football teams, tending to her flowers, enjoying a day of shopping, or treating herself to an ice cream cone, she found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Above all, she treasured the people she shared these moments with, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and beautiful memories.

Susanne is survived by her husband of 56 years Thomas Russell; her two children, Krista (Chris) Gross and Steve Russell; her five cherished grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Lindsey Gross, Aaron Gross, Nellie Russell, and Sevi Russell; her stepsister, Delores (Harold) Moses; and her beloved fur babies, Otis and Murphy. She leaves behind a family who will forever treasure her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love.

She was preceded in death by her father, Irvin Focht; her mother, Catherine Kreitzer Focht; her stepmother, Juanita Sears Focht; her siblings, Sharon Barnett, Marcellain (Ralph) Boyer, and James (Deanna) Eby; and her special friend, Carma Jean Hodson, with whom she is now joyfully reunited with in Heaven.

Beyond her family, Susanne was blessed with a wonderful community of people who loved her dearly. Her church family at Farmersville Christian Church (formerly known as Farmersville United Church of Christ) held a special place in her heart, as did the many lifelong friends who shared in life’s joys and adventures.

Susanne will be laid to rest at Twin Valley Cemetery during a private family service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton in Susanne’s memory. The family is deeply grateful for the extraordinary kindness, compassion, and loving care shown to Susanne during her final days.
