Susan Moore Oblinger

Susan Moore Oblinger, affectionately known as Sue, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, at Fairmont Senior Living after a short battle with cancer. She was 80 years old.

Born on February 27, 1946, in Bar Harbor, Maine, Susan lived a life defined by love, strength, and devotion to others. She was a very loving and caring person, remembered as a strong woman with deep resilience and a thoughtful spirit. Above all, she was a wonderful mother who dearly loved her children and grandchildren, and she took great pride in her family, motherhood, and education.

Susan earned her Masters degree from Miami University in Oxford, an achievement that reflected her dedication to learning and personal growth. She went on to devote more than 30 years to education, retiring from Valley View Schools after a long and meaningful career. Most of those years were spent teaching language arts, where she shared her love of words and learning with generations of students. She also directed the junior high drama club for many years, giving young people the opportunity to build confidence, creativity, and lasting memories under her guidance.

Her life’s work was matched by the care she gave at home. Susan’s family was the center of her heart, and the love she gave them will remain one of her most enduring legacies.

She is survived by her sons, Christian (Angie) Oblinger of Farmersville, Ohio, and Brent Oblinger of Bend, Oregon; and by her three granddaughters, Kaitlin Oblinger, Isabella Oblinger, and Elena Oblinger. She is also survived by her brothers Harold Thomas "Tom" II Williams, John “Jack” G. Williams. In the lives of her family, Susan leaves behind the example of a thoughtful, resilient, and deeply loving woman whose presence will be treasured always.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Oblinger, and by her parents, Harold Thomas Williams and Francis Williams.

Susan will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew her. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and to education leave a lasting mark that will not be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
