Rilda Jean Thomas

Rilda Jean (Richey) Thomas, age 73 of Germantown passed away at Kettering Hospital on August 13, 2022. She was born on May 20, 1949 in Germantown, OH to the late Elvin Lee and Betty Louise (Bailey) Richey. Rilda went to Germantown High School, class of 1967 but moved during her high school years and graduated from Franklin high school class of 1967. Rilda delivered for Don's pizza for over 10 years, and worked as cardiac nurse technologist before getting married in Christmas, MI to her late husband Philip Thomas. Together, Rilda and Phil were involved with amateur radio for over 50 years, were members of the Dayton Amateur Radio Association throughout the 70's and 80's, and she was the Information Coordinator for the Dayton Hamvention for most of that time as well as a member of the GARS (Germantown Amateur Radio Society). Rilda raised 3 children, was an avid crocheter, and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, Rilda was preceded in death by her husband Phil Thomas in May, 2022. She is survived by her daughters Vangie (Zach) McCloskey, Renee (Chris) Dale, Theresa (Steve) Mynes, grandchildren Thea (Tyler) Coleman, Morgan (Brandon) Bridges, Joseph (Cris) McCloskey, Skylar McCloskey, Donovan (Keirsten) Marsh, great grandchildren Ashton and Liam Marsh and Liddian and Kannika McCloskey, her sister Betsy Mitchell, niece Stephanie (Luis) Torres, nephew Ransford (Patti) Mitchell, sister in law Charlotte (Rick) Jobe, niece Melissa and her son Sam, brother in law Delbert Owen (Dottie) Thomas and niece and nephew Ben and Tabitha and her best friend Vangie (Pat Debruhl) Wyatt. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 11am - 12pm at the funeral home. Funeral Services will follow beginning at 12:00pm with Pastor Jon Kibler officiating, burial immediately following at Germantown Union Cemetery.
