Rick W. McGill

Richard W. McGill, affectionately known as Rick or Ritchie, of Franklin, passed away on October 14, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on July 11, 1964, in Middletown, Ohio.

Rick built a life defined by hard work, skill, and devotion to the people he loved. He graduated from Madison High School in 1982 and began working as an electrician at just 16 years old, continuing in that field throughout his life. He ended his career working at Gaylor Electric, but spent many years with Atkins and Stang, as well as various traveling jobs, and he was known by family and friends as a true MacGyver who could fix anything. People regularly called on him to repair things or help around their homes, and he was always recognized for the talent of his hands and his willingness to work. He loved working, and that steady dedication remained a defining part of who he was.

Outside of work, Rick enjoyed the things that brought him energy and comfort. He loved boating, NHRA and hot-rod racing, and anything involving engines, motorcycles, and four-wheelers. He also treasured quieter moments, especially spending time with his dogs, including Moses and Tank, and relaxing with daytime television and Lifetime movies. Those closest to him will also remember a familiar question that brought both laughter and affection: “Darlin what’s for dinner?”

Above all, Rick was devoted to his family. He and his wife, Susie McGill, shared 35 years of marriage and built a life together centered on love, loyalty, and family. He was especially devoted to spending time with his grandson, sons, and family, and he was deeply loved by his family and friends.

Rick is survived by his wife, Susie McGill; his sons, Mike Morgan (Andrew Williams), and Nick McGill (Amanda Emrick); his grandson, Knoxx McGill, and his sister Lisa Devore. He also leaves behind many family members and friends who will remember his dependable nature, his mechanical gifts, and the love he showed through both big and everyday moments.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marie McGill and his brother Mike McGill.
