Marie Antoinette King 1948-2026
Marie A. King left this life in late May 2026 on her own terms: at home and with her faithful dog, Zeus, by her side. Born August 13, 1948, in Hamilton, Ohio, Marie's life was a testament to self-reliance and steadfast determination in all she did, including graduating at 20 years old as a nurse and caring for patients for 42 years.
Marie was a self-described gypsy who loved to travel the country and see new places. She finally felt HOME in New Mexico. Her ashes will be scattered there in the mountains, where she used her degree in herbal medicine working with the Native tribes.
Her favorite things were her prize-winning Akita dogs, cherry Kool-Aid, collecting semi-precious stones, and wearing any shade of the color purple.
She leaves behind her father, William H. King, her sisters Cindy and Mary, her children Rachel (Rob) Bartlett and Dave (Michelle) King, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many precious extended family, neighbors, and friends.
She wasn't a perfect woman, but she found perfect love in her Father in Heaven, who loved her first and without condition. Marie will be sorely missed, but she has found her home.
Her open-house style memorial will be June 14 from 2-5 pm at Sunfish Shelter at the Germantown Dam. Please wear something purple and stop by to share a happy memory as we celebrate Marie's life.
