Lillie Wills, affectionately known as "Jean", a beloved matriarch and cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton, after a brief illness. Born on May 23, 1929, in Middletown, Ohio, she led a remarkable life filled with dedication to her family and an unwavering commitment to her work.
Jean's career began as a salon owner and cosmetologist, her talent and creativity flourished in this role until she decided to transition into the healthcare field. Jean went on to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), offering her compassion and skill to those in need, further solidifying her legacy as a caring individual.
Jean attended Middletown High School, and furthered her education in cosmetology school before attending nursing school in Florida, where she earned her LPN certification. Her strong-willed and feisty personality made her an unforgettable presence in the lives of all who knew her.
In her leisure time, Jean found joy in engaging activities such as solving puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was also a devoted reader of her Bible, finding solace and inspiration in its pages.
Jean attended Stratford Heights Church in Middletown when she was able. She is survived by her loving children: Diana Bohardt of Germantown, OH, Charma (Carl) Grooms of Middletown, OH, Susan Wills of Winchester, Indiana, Lynn Asuncion of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Timothy Lawson of Vero Beach, Florida. Her legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a piece of her vibrant spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Wills, her son, James Grant Wells, her mother, Clara Start, and siblings James, Ruby, Ruth, and Morton.
Friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, at Arpp, Root, Carter FH in Germantown, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM, with burial at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum in Middletown.
Jean Wills will be remembered for her strength, compassion, and vibrant spirit, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved her.
