John Schaeffer

Schaeffer, John A., age 63 formerly of Germantown passed away November 18, 2016 at his home in Florida. He was a graduate of Valley View High in 1971. John was born in Dayton, OH to the late Phillip and Louise (Rubenkoenig) Schaeffer.  John was proud member of the Germantown Lions Club, participated in Habitat for Humanity, and donated much of his time to several other organizations including the Bar Hop’N Bikers that donates to sick children.  He was one of the founding members of the Twin Creek Preservation Society which held the annual canoe races and he spent many years coaching and volunteering for Germantown swim team. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Chris and nephew Peter.  He is survived by his wife Kathryn (Saalfrank) Schaeffer of 40 years, 2 brothers Mike (Debbie) and Andy (Paula) Schaeffer, 4 children, Tanya, Tommy (Tami), Johnny Schaeffer, and Jennifer (Johnathan) Schuck, and 6 grandchildren Kristyn Schaeffer, Noah, Gavin, Zeth Schaeffer, Garrett and Hunter Schuck and Stiffler and one great grandchild Kendyll Land.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 3-5PM with the Lions Club service beginning at 4:50PM at the Arpp & Root Funeral Home, 29 N Main St.  Germantown. In lieu of flowers please donate to Old Hippies of Germantown, 118 Frazer Drive Middletown, Ohio 45042.   Following the visitation a celebration of life will continue with friends and family at the Eagles in Germantown
