John Hawk

With heavy hearts, we remember and celebrate the life of John Andrew Hawk Sr., who was born on March 18, 1954, in Springfield, Ohio, and who departed this world on May 24, 2025. John lived with unwavering determination and an infectious passion for living life to the fullest. He was known as the life of the party, brightening up any room he walked into with his contagious laugh, endless stories, and uncanny ability to make people laugh in any situation.

John was the proud father to 5 children: Christopher (Holly) Hawk, John (Bethany) Hawk Jr., Mike Hawk, Billy (Joni) Hawk and Cheyenne Hawk (fiancé, Jacob), a loving grandpa to 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and a cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving siblings, Patrick (Roseanne) Hawk, and Brenda (Terry) Baugh. Along with his beloved family, he also left behind countless close friends whom he loved and cared for deeply, with a special mention to those from his motorcycle club he was so honored to be a part of: Wright Riders Motorcycle Club. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Chris and Inez Hawk, whose love and guidance shaped John into the remarkable man he became.

Anyone who knew John knew his deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was cruising on his motorcycle with his Wright Riders Motorcycle Club brothers or casting a line out on the lake, he found joy in nature and in the company of family and friends. These moments spent outside, surrounded by loved ones, were central to his life.

John never met a stranger—he had the rare ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like an old friend. His passions for motorcycles, karaoke nights, and fishing weren’t just hobbies but parts of a larger legacy of laughter, connection, and unforgettable memories.

To honor John, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 7th, from 5–11 p.m. at VFW Post 7741 in Dayton. Family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance to share stories, laughter, and tears as we pay tribute to a remarkable man who will be truly missed.
