John "Bob" Baker

December 5, 1923 — February 10, 2022

John R. Baker, "Bob" age 98 of Germantown passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022 at Astoria Health and Rehab. He was born in Germantown, OH to the late John Sr. and Grace (Kuhnle) Baker, graduated from Germantown High School class of 1942 and was a lifetime member of Emmanuel's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germantown. Bob was a WWII Army veteran and was a member and volunteer at the Germantown Veterans Museum, he former member of the Germantown Lion's Club where he served one year as President, he also helped establish the peewee programs in Germantown in the late 1950's and early 60's. Bob retired from Armco after 44 years, after retirement he enjoyed playing golf and having breakfast with his buddies that he referred to as the Monday Morning Breakfast Club. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Amy (Creech) Baker in 1999, his son John T. Baker, and his sister Lou Winglewich. Bob is survived by his son David Baker, grandsons Mike (Taryn) Baker, Matt (Nikki) Baker, great grandchildren Taylor (Daniel) Munoz, Josh, John D, and Grace Baker, his sister Dorothy Reed, and numerous extended family members and dear friends. The family will hold a private committal service at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown with Pastor Nikki Baker officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Emmanuel's Lutheran Church, 30 W Warren St. Germantown, OH or the Germantown Veteran's Memorial Museum Foundation, 123 S Main St, Germantown, OH 45327.
