Janet Lee Squires, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 27, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton. Born on February 3, 1941, in West Virginia, Janet's life was defined by her warmth, generosity, and a delightful sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew her.
Janet was a sweet lady known for her willingness to help others. She brought happiness and laughter into the lives of her loved ones. Her passion for shopping was a well-known trait, as was her incredible ability to make people smile.
She occasionally attended the Abundant Life Tabernacle in Germantown, and her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, whom she adored unconditionally. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating treasured memories that will live on in their hearts forever.
Janet leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years, James Squires; her daughters, Tina (Frank) Brandstetter and Terry Depew; and her son, Tim Squires. Janet was a devoted grandmother to her ten grandchildren: Joseph, Michael, Kristin, Sharon, Adam, Destiny, Rochelle, Leslie, Charity, and Christina. She also is survived by numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Janet is preceded in death by her daughter, Tonya Faye Squires; her son, James Squires; her grandsons, William Dean and Shane Squires; and her sister, Violet Riffe. Their memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family, as they remember the love shared and the bonds that tie them together.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Janet’s life at Arpp, Root, Carter Funeral Home, located at 29 N. Main Street, Germantown, Ohio. Visitation will be held on June 1, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM. A funeral service will take place the following day, June 2, at 1 PM, followed by a graveside service at Germantown Union Cemetery.
As we gather to honor Janet Lee Squires, let us remember her joyful spirit, her unwavering love for those around her, and the profound impact she had on our lives. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered, living on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
