James H. Adkins "Joe"

James H. Adkins, affectionately known as "Joe," passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2026, at his home in Miamisburg, Ohio. Born on April 7, 1964, in Dayton, Ohio, Joe led a life marked by dedication, humility, and a profound love for his family. He was a quiet man by nature, a true homebody with a character all his own, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Joe embarked on his professional journey in the construction industry, specializing in heavy equipment operation. Throughout his many years of work, he contributed his skills most recently to Snyder Brick and Block.

Educated at Miamisburg High School, Joe’s interests extended beyond the workplace. He was passionate about Ford trucks and big foot monster trucks and enjoyed the tranquility and adventure of camping. These hobbies provided him with joy and a sense of peace that mirrored his quiet demeanor.  He also loved feeding the ducks from his front porch and would never turn down a trip to Marion's Pizza.

Above all, Joe’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his children: Joseph (Donna) Adkins of Franklin, Ohio; Brandi Lemaster of Germantown, Ohio; and Holly Adkins of Carlisle, Ohio. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Skyler, Alyson, Serenity, Autumn, Landon, Grayson, Raven, Alyssa, and Waylon, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.  He is also survived by his sister, Terri Adkins, and held close bonds with his best friends Coy and Terry Gayhart.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harold and Linda (McKinney) Adkins, and his brother Steve Adkins. He also mourned the loss of his best friend Clay Adams as well as his fiancée, Cara Queen.

A visitation to honor Joe’s life will be held on April 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00pm. Both events will take place at the Miamisburg Temple of Praise, located at 9840 Clearcreek Franklin Road, Miamisburg, Ohio 45342.  Burial at Woodhill Cemetery immediately following the service.

Joe’s passing leaves a quiet void among those who loved him deeply. He was a man who found contentment in the simple pleasures of life and carried with him an enduring love for those closest to his heart. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, as a devoted family man, a steadfast friend, and a remarkable individual whose presence will be greatly missed.
