Gerald Lynn Emrick, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Germantown, Ohio, on June 15, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on October 28, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Irvin and Gladys Emrick, who preceded him in death, along with his brothers, Donald, Robert, and Mark Emrick.
Gerald proudly served his country as a radio operator in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he built a successful career as a Computer Programmer at the Dupps Company, from which he eventually retired.
A graduate of Germantown High School, Gerald had lifelong ties to his community. He was actively involved in various local activities, particularly enjoying playing music and singing in gospel groups, at weddings, with the Greasers, and also performing in the Germantown Rescue Squad Musicals. His devotion to service was evident in his role driving the bus for Germantown Senior Citizens, where he connected with many people and made lasting friendships.
Gerald had a passion for sports and family gatherings; he loved playing golf, softball, cards, and other games with his family. He was often seen cheering at Valley View sports events and supporting his nieces in their athletic pursuits, embodying the spirit of a devoted family man.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 58 years, Freda (Turner) Emrick, their sons, Eric (Cristin) Emrick and Jeremy (Candie) Emrick, along with his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alex, Samantha, Noah, Brenleigh, and Cynthia Emrick, great-grandchildren Elliott and Kamden as well as adored nieces, nephews and extended family.
Gerald's life will be honored with a Visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and a Celebration of Life from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on June 28, 2025, at St. John's United Church of Christ, located at 201 W Market St, Germantown, OH. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and the profound impact he made on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the Germantown Senior Center, 33 N Cherry St. Germantown OH 45327 in memory of Gerald.
