Balling, Gerald Joseph, age 72, died on November 20, 2017 at the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, OH. He leaves behind his son Scott (Catherine) Balling, granddaughter Flora, his sister Doris Todd, his nephew and good friend Ed Chance and a host of other nieces and nephews. Jerry, who was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy, his father Anthony and his brother Bill, grew up in Medway and New Carlisle and served in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea and at Fort Knox. As an adult he lived in Dayton and then in Middletown. Jerry had an inquisitive mind and a sharp sense of humor. He loved to read, cook and share the outdoors and home projects with his son. He loved music and cars and over the years took up more hobbies – woodworking, painting and creating stained glass artwork. Jerry worked for SpringDot Commercial Printing as an estimator for 25 years, from which he retired in 2013. Before that Jerry worked for Trulson Graphics. Per his wishes, there will not be a memorial service, but the family would like to thank his former co-workers and friends who have shown so much love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a cancer charity or an animal welfare fund in Jerry's name would be a blessing.
