As my journey ends, I do not regret the plan God made for me. It was a life full of joy with a few difficult moments, but God was always there.
Born on May 24, 1936, I was truly blessed with a loving mother and father, Carma and Glidia Dougherty. I was raised on a farm in Preble County as one of 13 brothers and sisters, of whom I was number six, and attended West Elkton High School, Class of 1954, with 14 classmates.
My husband graduated from The Ohio State University Veterinary College in 1960, and I received my veterinary assistant degree a few years later. We ran Germantown Animal Hospital on Cherry Street from 1960 until our retirement in 2005 and attended First Church of God on Farmersville Pike for most of our married life.
In 2005, we retired to The Villages, where we enjoyed golfing, swimming, and riding around in our golf cart. We made many new friends there.
I was preceded in death by my parents, Carma and Glidia Dougherty; siblings Winfred, Wilma Phillips, Wilburn, Windell, Lowell, Larry, Gary, and Lavern Long; and our precious daughter-in-law, Coleen.
I am survived by my loving husband, Earl (“Doc”), of more than 70 wonderful years. We were blessed with two loving sons, Marvin and Dan (Barb); six beautiful grandchildren: Michael (Sarah), Brian (Emily), Jennifer Flott (Kevin), Mark (Ashley), Justin, and Kaitlyn Smith (Nathan); and nine great-grandchildren: Orbin, Jacey, Ella, Isaac, Grace, Will, Joel, and our twin girls, Charlotte and Olivia.
I am also survived by four brothers: David (Ginger), Tom (Vicky), Mike (Vonnia), and Darrell (Barb); and two sisters: Yvonne Schuler (Bob) and Kathy Stamper (Vic).
It has been a great life. Do not cry for me. I will be busy looking all over Heaven for my family and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 5-7pm at Germantown First Church of God, 760 Farmersville Pike, Germantown, OH. Funeral services will be Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:00am at the church with burial immediate following at Germantown Union Cemetery.
