Charles A. Osborn, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, Navy veteran, friend, and dedicated community member, passed away unexpectedly on May 26, 2026, at Kettering Hospital. Born on May 21, 1950, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Chuck lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Chuck graduated from Dixie High School, class of 1968 and went on to earn an associate degree in accounting from Sinclair Community College. During high school, the football team went to state in 1967, and were later inducted into the Dixie High School Hall of Fame. He proudly served seven years as a submariner and diver in the United States Navy, spending most of his time aboard the USS John Adams. His military service was a source of immense pride and shaped much of his character and dedication in later years.
After his honorable military service, Chuck worked as a maintenance technician at Miller Brewing for twenty years before retiring. His leadership extended beyond the workplace, where he served as president of the veterans committee and was instrumental in securing important benefits for fellow veterans. Among his many contributions, Chuck was also a celebrated blood donor, giving gallons of blood over the years and earning recognition for his generosity.
Known for his larger-than-life personality, Chuck was the biggest presence in any room, always ready with a joke, a clever one-liner, or a piece of practical wisdom. His comedic nature and warm spirit frequently embarrassed his daughters in the most endearing way. His humor endeared him not only to his family but also to the myriad friends and acquaintances who sought his company, advice, and unwavering support. As the trusted "Mr. Fix-it" and financial advisor, Chuck was the go-to man—the resident handyman who could be counted on to tackle any challenge.
Chuck treasured time with his family above all else. He instilled in them the importance of family vacations, pauses from the daily grind, and making memories together. He spent many years coaching his daughter's sports teams and taught them that the most important thing you can give someone is your time.
His love of the outdoors was evident in his passion for traveling, especially wintering in Florida, where he enjoyed long walks and bike rides along the beach with his beloved wife, Nancy. Chuck found joy exploring multiple wineries across Michigan and the Midwest and relished the sunshine and waterside activities that rejuvenated his spirit. It was while enjoying one of his cherished pastimes—riding his bicycle alongside Nancy—that he passed away unexpectedly.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Nancy (Adams) Osborn; his mother, Marie Osborn Combs; his children, Chanda McBride, Jeanna Osborn (Amanda Garrett), Deanna Sizemore (Cole), and Lindsey Mundhenk; and his treasured grandchildren Megan Osborn (Kevin Jones), Nathan Osborn (Tabby), Riley Osborn, Jackson Osborn, Nash Sizemore, Tayen Mundhenk, Jamison Osborn, and Zayden Mundhenk. He is also survived by his brothers Rick Osborn (Joyce) and Gary Osborn (Margaret), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Osborn, and his granddaughter, Sydney Osborn.
Chucks legacy is one woven from laughter, steadfast love, service to his country, and the countless lives he touched with his humor and kindness. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him to embrace life with joy, to give generously of their time, and to treasure every moment with family. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly celebrated.
The family will be hosting a memorial service to honor Chuck at a later date and the website will be updated once it's announced.
