ULRICH, Carolyn Louise (Maxson), age 79, of West Alexandria, OH, passed away on August 23, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born in Springfield, Ohio, on July 24, 1946, to Harold and Mary Maxson. Carolyn was married to Dr. Mark Ulrich for 50 years.
Carolyn's life was defined by generosity, kindness, and an unshakable grace. She had a gift for meeting others with acceptance, avoiding conflict with gentleness, and leaving those around her feeling loved and understood. Her faith was a central part of her life. As a devoted member of Farmersville UMC, she sang in the choir, taught adult Sunday school, and participated in Bible studies. She found joy in gatherings- whether at Bingo, Book Club, or Farm Bureau meetings - always bringing warmth, laughter, and stories of her family. Carolyn was passionate about education and led the campaign for a new school building. She ran the Twin Creek Tearoom and Gift Shop for 27 years and often cooked for others, most lovingly for the Twin Valley Veterinarian Services staff.
Carolyn's truest devotion was to her family and friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin. Her family will always remember her as the host of generous gatherings.
Carolyn is survived by her 5 children, Dr. John (Danielle) Ulrich, West Alexandria, OH; Kathleen (Matthew) Carpenter, Roswell, GA; Karen (Walid) Maalouf, Boston, MA; Dr. Kristy (Patrick) Ulrich Papczun, Chicago, IL; and Dr. Brad (Lynn Bowles) Ulrich, Portland, OR; 13 grandchildren; her brother, Dale (Sandy) Maxson; in-laws: Rochelle (Lee) White, Amy (Jim) Leedy, Dow (Margie) Ulrich; many beloved nieces and nephews; and many dear friends who were like family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Mark W. Ulrich; her parents, Harold and Mary Maxson; her brothers, John (Anna) Maxson and Bob (Carol) Maxson; her brother-in-law, Lee (Rochelle) White; and her daughter-in-law, Melissa Ulrich.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in West Alexandria, OH. Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM at the Farmersville United Methodist Church, followed by funeral services at 11:30 AM, with Pastor Casey Irwin officiating. Burial will follow at Twin Valley Cemetery.
