Harry Gisewite

Gisewite, Harry Eugene, age 88 of Farmersville passed away peacefully in his favorite spot, the front porch of his home. He was born in Farmersville, OH to the late Burley and Ruth (Johnson) Gisewite and attended Farmersville School before working on the farm with his father, then joining the U.S. Army. After serving his country, Harry spent about 20 years working at Farmersville Elevator and after that he worked for many years at GM where he retired. After retirement, Harry loved working on lawn mowers and going to garage sales. He was always smiling, happy and had a contagious laugh that will be missed by everyone who knew him. Harry’s wife Rowena (Slyder) Gisewite preceded him in death in April 2019 after 68 years of marriage and he missed her dearly. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his children Rick (Linda) Gisewite, Randy Gisewite, Karen Riley (Matt Jennings), Kelly (Greg) Moseley, grandchildren Ty Colter (Alechia) Gisewite, Kayla (Kendall) Long, Logan and Mason Riley, Sophy Moseley, 3 great grandchildren, Dean, Luke and Jaxton, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 12:30PM at Slifer's Presbyterian Church, 2999 S. Clayton Road, Farmersville, OH 45325 with Phil Izor officiating, interment at Holp Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10-12:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Farmersville Jackson Township Fire and Rescue.

My sympathy to each one of you. Farmersville has lost a treasure whether he was a helper, talker, friend, husband, brother, dad, grandpa or a terrific neighbor who always had the time of day. My son says it best below tho. You have many good times to remember, those are the ones you must remember.

Mr. Gisewite was one of person's whom if you came across he made you feel welcomed and was wonderful to talk to about anything. If there was a man other than my own father I would consider my Dad, Harry would have been one of those guys. A true gentlemen, a great father to his children and the best husband to the woman he loved for 68 years. Harry was a fabric to society that will be greatly missed. I pray for the family's of Mr. Gisewite because this is a real loss for the community. God Bless the Gisewite's....Love Richard D. Cason II....I dedicate this song to Mr. Gisewite... https://www.youtube.com/embed/6jXrmAKBBTU

Uncle Harry was the epitome of all the gifts of the sprit and shown earthly Love to all that He touched! I pray his example will live on in each of us that we're blessed to have been loved by him! Rita

Sweetest man with the sweetest smile. Treated my kids like his own grandkids and we looked forward to driving by his house to see. He was on the porch so the kids could yell and wave! He will be greatly missed but Im certain He is happy at home with his bride
