Freda Hosler

Freda L. Hosler, age 97, of Germantown, Ohio passed away on March 4, 2020. She was born on June 15th, 1922 in Canton, Ohio to the late Edward and Cleo (Petree) Metzger. She was married to Leslie Bryan Hosler of Washington Court House, Ohio in 1946 until his passing on November 4, 2011. Freda was a lifelong member of Brandt Lutheran Church in Brandt, Ohio and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Germantown, Ohio where she served faithfully as organist and choir director. If something was needed in the music department she was always ready to serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Freda's love of music continued into her 90's when she would play favorite songs and Christmas carols for her family. Freda enjoyed many years with Les gardening at their farm in Bethel Township and camping around the country. They especially liked to "snowbird" along the Rio Grande in Laredo, Texas with Les's sister Louise and brother-in-law Marvin. Freda loved all the family events and overnight visits by the grandkids. Freda loved writing and receiving cards and letters from friends and acquaintances. She was a lifelong Reds fan. She would catch every game and then follow up by reading Hal McCoys' rundown in the following days paper. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Bud and Donna Metzger, her sister Chris Clark, and sister and brother-in-law Lillian and Homer Sell. She is survived by two sons, Kenny and Karen ( McPeck) Hosler of Arcanum, Ohio and Gene and Susie (Clark) Hosler of Germantown, Ohio. She is also survived by a sister, Norma Wagner of Canton, Ohio and brother-in-law Ben Clark of Phoenix, Arizona, seven grandchildren and spouses, and twelve great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the following:
· Ohio's Hospice of Dayton for their support in keeping her with her family at home
· To Dr. Noel Watson and staff for their care
· To her church families for faithfully showing such love to Freda throughout the years
· To Freda's neighbors who loved Freda and Les and were always ready to lend a hand
There will be a memorial service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 3:00PM with Pastor Dave Potter and Pastor Bonnie Kinnunen officiating. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00PM.  If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton, Emanuel's Lutheran Church, or Brandt Lutheran Church (addresses at bottom of this screen)

Guestbook

I am just now seeing this and apologize for not paying my respects in person. Freda was, quite simply, one of the most positive and loving people I have ever known. I grew up at Brandt Lutheran Church where Freda was the organist and choir director. She and Les were such joyful servants, Freda through her music and amazing people skills and Les through his willingness to work quietly behind the scenes doing whatever needed to be done. Their lives were witnesses to God's love!

Sincere conferences to you Ken and Gene and all your family. I am so thankful David and I got to visit Frieda at her home in Germantown about three years ago. I have such fond memories of Frieda as a special neighbor on Hasket Lane and also of her leading us in the Youth Choir at Bethel Lutheran Church. She was a special, special lady and now in the arms of God. May God bless all the family.Sincerely,Barbara Pendergast

She was my Aunt Freda. Her and Uncle Les's farm is a childhood memory for me and my brother. I could sit for hours and listen to her play. I always said she was a natural with a piano. Love and prayers to my cousin's Gene, and Ken, and to the rest of our family.. She is going to be missed.

Freda was a gift to the world. She taught me the love of music in praise of the Lord, along with countless others. Her sweetness and light will be greatly missed. Truly, she was a wonderful Christian and role model for us all. I am so sorry for your loss.

Our condolences to the family. Freda and Les have been such a great role model to our family and others. Over the 50+ years I have known them, They have shown us how to live a christian life. Freda was my Choir Director at Brandt Lutheran Church, starting with the junior choir, to senior choir, summer shows, to singing with the seniors group. She taught me(and my family) choir etiquette from how to turn pages without making any sounds to making sure you hold your hymnal up so your voice would carry out and most importantly no talking during choir rehearsal. Freda was my golf mentor. Les set up a chipping course in their yard and we practiced putting in the living room. Freda was my golf buddy. I had the privilege of doing her hair for many years where we shared many stories and issues over several cups of tea while perming her hair. There are too many stories to tell but we have been so blessed to have had them both in our lives. We will miss you dear Freda!
